New year in Hoogeveen 2006

Great night! Gg finally persuaded me to buy bangers for her - completely alien for me - but she was so persuasive - as usual. So now they are all *really* dutch...

Big party last night - Anna, JP, Walter, Helena, Winfried et al. came round after midnight and whnen the fireworks were finished.

God knows when we went to bed but the dawn woke us - I cleared up the mess in the square - I was still drunk so whistled carlols, WWII songs etc - you can imagine. Caron and Annas daughter - Aniek - sat out and drank tea while I tidied up. Jan Pauls huge fire cracker made a lot of mess!

I had the traditional "hare of the dog" and kept going into the early evening. Peeled the potatoes, chopped some woord for the fire, listened to S&Art Garfunkel (!) and prepared for this evenings Steak Pie! Caron went for bath/shower. The fire burned well throughout the day - running out again - wood man comes tomorrow.

Anna & Jan Paul enjoy Scottish Breakfast

Hogmany - oude jaars dag (in dutch).

We end the year with traditional Scottish Breakfast - Anna & Jan Paul come too. Then Jen, Georgi and I go to buy fireworks and more DVDs (I got a DVD recorder for Christmas and I have been busy transfering all the old family videos to the new format).

Preparing for tonight - Anna & Jan-Paul will come round at nine so we better get some sleep!
